Atlanta International Airport

Information and interaction design for a mobile flight departures and arrivals platform.

Tabular Typography - Typography II - Spring 2025

This project is a mobile app for arrivals and departures at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The goal was to design a clear, organized flight information display that communicates real-time updates, using typography, hierarchy, and symbols to simplify complex data.

Before designing, I analyzed the structure and flow of flight data and studied existing airport interfaces. By examining digital display systems, I identified patterns and prioritized information to ensure clarity and legibility for users.”

Content Analysis

I explored multiple digital variations focusing on typographic hierarchy, alignment, and grid structure to enhance clarity and usability. Throughout, I considered visual structure, user behavior, and readability.

Concept Variations

After exploring initial variations based on my research, I refined the layouts to be more clear and improve usability. This allowed me to narrow in on a direction and begin developing a concept. From there, I developed additional screens that applied the hierarchy, while exploring a visual identity to unify the system.

Refinements

The task flow focused on how passengers navigate flight information step by step. Designing this flow ensured the interface was intuitive, minimizing confusion and helping users quickly find the details they need.
