Visual identity design that translates a creature’s physical, behavioral, and personality traits into a clear graphic mark.
Creature Mark - Design Aesthetics || - Spring 2025
The objective of the Creature Mark is to transform a creature’s natural form into a clear visual language using the fundamental elements of design. The goal is to communicate distinct physical, behavioral, and personality traits while translating the creature’s natural form into a visual language.
I studied the ram, an assertive animal with a thick wool coat and curved horns that reflect its strength and agility in mountainous terrain. As the symbol of Aries, it also represents boldness, determination, and leadership. These traits formed the foundation for translating the ram into a visual identity.
Research
Sketching different poses allowed me to become more familiar with the animal’s structure and the movement I aimed to portray. This allowed me to better understand its form, proportions and personality.

After sketching, I composed digital ideations using only point, line, and shape to create the form. Throughout the process, I was redirected to explore alternative methods to create depth and shadow with point and lines.

In the second phase of this project, the ram is incorporated into a typographic composition developed using the Fibonacci grid. This approach brings structure and rhythm to the layout, creating a balanced relationship between image and type.

Color was introduced into the typographic composition. Through palette exploration, I used color to bring emphasis, balance, and character to the overall design.
